Quick Tip of the Day: Speed up your lifts to burn extra calories.
A recent study found that explosive weight training burns more calories than pumping iron slowly. Lifting quickly targets fast-twitch muscle fibers, which have been shown to require more energy to contract than slow-twitch muscles.
In the study, the fast-lifting participants took 2 seconds to lower the weight and then pressed it back to the starting position as forcefully as possible. So, if you’re looking to cut down on body fat, give explosive weight training a try.
